Liverpool & District Family History Society was formed in 1987 and incorporated in 1989. In 2003 the Society changed its name to the Liverpool Genealogy Society. There are more than 80 financial members and in excess of thirty active members attend our monthly meeting.

 

The aims of the Society are to encourage and assist members in the study of family history; to promote and undertake the compilation of all records of a genealogical nature; to promote and undertake the preservation of material considered to be of genealogical value; to use its influence to secure the preservation of headstones, cemeteries and burial grounds; to foster interchange of information among members of the Society; to print or reproduce printed matter as may seem conducive to any of the objects of the Society; to affiliate and co-operate with other societies, institutions and associations having similar objects and to publish a magazine or newsletter of interest to members.

 

The Society has produced six volumes of the headstone transcriptions of the Liverpool General Cemetery. The headstones of the Liverpool Pioneers Memorial Park have also been photographed and transcribed and are available for individual purchase.
 

The Society has produced indexes for St. Lukes Anglican Church records and has published indexes to the Liverpool Catholic All Saints registers and the Liverpool Pioneers Memorial Park. Indexing of the 1824-25 Liverpool Police Bench book as well as indexes to births, deaths, marriages and obituaries from our local Liverpool, Campbelltown and Fairfield newspapers of today. Max Perram Funeral Director of Liverpool records from 1962 to 1997. Indexing of the Liverpool Asylum registers is an ongoing project with 8 volumes released. Recording of the Sydney Catholic Lawn Cemetery at Kemps Creek is also completed.

 

The Society regularly updates the Sydney Catholic Lawn Cemetery details and photographs. In the near future an update of the Liverpool General Cemetery is planned

RESEARCH ASSISTANCE
 

The members assist Liverpool Regional Family History Centre  patrons to research their families from Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive from 10.30am to 3.30pm except the morning of the 1st Saturday when we hold our General Meeting of Members. 

 

The Liverpool Regional Family History Centre is closed Sundays and Mondays and Public Holidays.

 

The Regional Family History Centre is situated in the Liverpool Regional Museum cnr. Hume Highway and Congressional Drive Liverpool
